Flores is a long and mountainous island, with astonishing landscapes, rainforests, dramatic volcanoes, deep ravines and picturesque villages. Ancestral belief are still widespread in remote megalithic villages.
The crater lakes of Gunung Keli Mutu. The colors of the three lakes always change because of different levels of minerals in the water; normally you will find the greenish, blueish and black variants but also reddish colours have also been seen.
But the Kelimutu is not the only spectacular thing in this incredible island where an astonishing discovery on human kind ancestors has just been made in here: The Homo Floresiensis |

The Northern coast of FLORES provides pleasant dives,
not so deep but equally colourful, across the 17 ISLANDS
MARINE PARK, a completely unknown diving treasure. This is a mysterious habitat where beautiful coral gardens surrounded by Mangroves covered with
Flying foxes are home to a great variety of autoctonous life like the colorful pre-historic dragon known by the locals MBOU or yellow dragon.
Actually there are 24 islands but the government decided to overlook seven of them so that the name could match with the date of the Independence of the country: August 17th.

MAUMERE
BAY, greatly recovered after
the earthquake in 1991, now life returns to a naturally devastated
reef.... at an amazing speed which scientist are still to understand. It is a unique experience to dive and see which species come
first to colonise the area.
The great variety of different dives: Wrecks, Drifts, Muck diving with amazingly strange UW critters, are returning Maumere Bay into the Precious Submarine Jewel it was once considered.
East of Flores, the passages between the islands of
PANTAR, LOMBLEN and
ALOR are
hot spots well known by divers, where sharks are seen almost in every
single dive.
Schools of fish, massive groupers and all sorts of crabs and nudibranchs
are extremely abundant here.
But it is the permanent sense of Exploration and Discoveryin an almost virgin area,
what makes the few divers who come to this remote waters feel they are living the cruise of their lifes.
